Canada. 


As a member of the research team, reporting to the Chief of Research Services, you will be responsible for providing assistance/support in the planning, preparation, and execution of all aspects of the research program. Such decisions must ensure that CIRA /York Care Centre remains a ‘Centre of Excellence in Aging’ by confirming that the research is, evidenced based and can be demonstrated as meeting the needs of our senior populations. 


As the optimal candidate, you will have a Bachelor’s Degree in health science or a related field, demonstrated experience in the field of research, and proven knowledge of MS Office and statistical software. You will also possess strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal, skills and the ability to multi-task and work independently. Valid driver’s license required as some travel is involved.

RESEARCH THERAPIST (OT / PT / Kinesiology)

 The Centre for Innovation and Research in Aging (CIRA), is a leading New Brunswick research organization focusing on aging health and quality of life for senior populations. Located on the campus of York Care Centre, which houses New Brunswick’s largest long-term care facility, CIRA is partnered with innovators, research organizations, and academics from across Canada.

 

The Research Therapist will be part of a research team implementing the study “Home-based and residence-based virtual reality training to increase rehabilitative exercise in seniors” funded by the New Brunswick Healthy Seniors Pilot Project. Participants are older adults over age 65 who are recovering from illness or injury and are receiving Extra-mural rehabilitation services. The Research Therapist would be responsible to create safe and challenging virtual reality programs for participants, either in their home or in their long-term care facility. This would include creating the programs, training the participants and monitoring their progress.


As the optimal candidate, you will be a Rehabilitation professional (OT or PT, with current College registration in good standing), at least 3 years of professional (OT or PT) experience (preferred experience working in at least one of the following: long-term care, homecare clients, and/or working with frail older adults). Experience in clinical research is considered an asset. You will also be familiar with gaming, technology, hardware and software, able to problem-solve technology installations and have experience with MS Office. You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with participants, other therapists and research colleagues, and the media. The ability to prioritize multiple tasks, organize you own workload and meet deadlines is essential. 


Note: This position requires flexible hours and some travelling (mileage will be paid). The successful candidate will be bilingual (French/English). The candidate must provide documentation of TCPS-2 training within the past 5 years or be willing to complete this requirement before the anticipated start date.
